Copperbelt Inter-Company Relay

October 7, 2017

We have successfully hosted the Inter Company Relay (ICR) in Lusaka for the past 19 years. And in response to the numerous requests from Copperbelt based organizations and our desire to share the joy and happiness of the ICR, we now have the pleasure to inform you that we have Partnered with the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) to host the Inaugural Copperbelt Province ICR, on 7th October, 2017 at the ZITF Grounds in Ndola, and invite you to take  in this prestigious Event.

This event will be graced by the First Lady of the Republic of Zambia- Madam Esther Lungu.

The ICR is a not for profit organization,  initiated in 1999 by the Zambia Amateur Athletic Association (ZAAA) to raise funds for the development and promotion of athletics in the Country, while promoting an integrated approach to Health Response & Wellness.

This event is the largest, most engaging and exciting Corporate Health and Wellness-Promoting Sporting Event in the country, that brings together Corporate Leaders and Executives, Civil Society, Government, the Diplomatic Corp and the Community for a day of fun, while providing Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) and Screening of various Medical Conditions such as HIV/AIDS, Breast and Cervical Cancers, Cardiovascular diseases, Diabetes, Hypertension etc, in a socially–friendly atmosphere, under the motto “Know your Status for a Healthier Nation”.

We have succeeded in our Wellness Mission, as more Organizations and individuals are now involved in Wellness Programs. Additionally, the health of many people who pass through our Health village for screening and testing. This has significantly improved due to the knowledge of their health status.

The positive effect of the ICR is also evident in improved performance of our athletes at International Championships and Competitions. We are now reaping medals and some of our athletes have attained World Ranking in 100m, 200m, and 400m & 400 x 100 Relay Team

Further, the funds raised have facilitated the strengthening of the Zambia Amateur Athletic Association (ZAAA) Structures that support Athletics Development in the Country.

Many of our athletes identified through the Talent Identification Program (TIP) are drawn from very ordinary backgrounds across the Country. Some have access to funds to support their training, let alone to specialized training needed to enhance their skills needed to successfully participate in International Competitions. ZAAA therefore offers them a Dual Pathway in Education and Athletics as a career at our High Performance Youth Training Centre (HPTC) located at Olympic Development Centre (OYDC).
